Description
Cork fabric is ideal for bag making, trimmings and lots of other craft uses. This vegan fabric is a great alternative to leather!
Cork is a natural raw material that has a long tradition of being harvested from the bark of the cork oak which has no adverse effects on the ecosystem. After the bark has been peeled off, the harvested cork is assembled into large plates using a natural glue, and then very thin slices are cut off with a sharp knife. The cork slices are either left natural or dyed in different colours and then attached or glued to a carrier material. This elaborate process produces a very special material, which is described as vegan leather due to its characteristics. Cork fabric is relatively thin and is therefore perfect for processing. The surface is soft, durable and has a pleasant feel.
