Time: 10.00am – 2.00pm
During this dressmaking course you will make a skirt of your choice. The classes are run over the course of three months to give you time in-between to digest the information and maybe repeat what you've learnt at home.
You will choose a pattern and fabric (with help) in the shop and learn a host of skills throughout the course to making a successful skirt.
You will learn how to read dressmaking patterns including all the symbols and their meanings. How to transfer pattern markings, darts and pleats and all about interfacings. How to use the sewing machine, different stitches and seam finishes. How to insert a zip, how to hem and how to sew a machine buttonhole.
You will also learn how to fit the skirt to your figure too.
Leave with lots of skills and knowledge that you can apply to all future dressmaking projects.
Advice is always on hand in the shop to help you choose a suitable pattern and fabric for your ability.
You will need to provide your own materials for this course but sewing machines and tools are provided.
You can pay for each month as you go along but you will need to do this in the shop.
