Block A Month
This course starts on Saturday 5th September and will run every month until completion (around 10 classes)
We will be using a quilt pattern called ‘A Letter to My Daughter Block of the Month Quilt’ – Pattern by Natalie Bird of the Birdhouse which you will need to purchase on-line. The cost of this from ‘Poppy Patch’ is £36.95.
You will learn how to master edge-turned applique for the centre of each block. There is also English Paper Piecing on this quilt to learn and then we will be using a technique called quilt-as-you-go to complete each block. There is certainly lots to learn!
There will be some homework each month to complete the hand sewing on the applique parts and cut out your fabric ready to assemble at each class. If you’d prefer to use the sewing machine for your applique then you will be shown this too.
The finished quilt can be seen hanging up in the shop, just inside the front door. Finished size: 64″ x 74″ approx.
You will need to provide your own materials for this project, all available to purchase from Nimble Thimbles. Sewing machines are provided in the sewing school but you will need to bring your own equipment with you.
Once you have booked you will be emailed a list of materials & equipment needed for this project. Tea & biscuits will be provided on each class.
Classes are for 16 years and over only.
