Description

Date: 21st April, 19th May and 16th June 2023
Day: Friday
Time: 6pm to 9.30pm

This course is for those who have made bags previously and wish to add to their skills. It is not for beginners to bag making.

During this bag making course you will make the truly stunning Bowler Bag from a Mrs H pattern.

“Knock ’em down with The Bowler Bag! In a league of its own this perfectly proportioned carryall pairs a striking structured shape with a soft silhouette. Functional and spacious, with pockets inside and out. The Bowler Bag will be right up your alley for both work and everyday use.”

The classes are run over the course of three sessions as this bag has a number of different elements and will need time to make.
You will learn how to make handles and attach them, add a gusset zip opening, add bag feet, make a box zipped pocket and slip pockets. You will also have the chance to add optional decorative metal hardware and a crossbody strap.

Finished bag measurements – Width 34cm x Height 26.5cm x Depth 14cm approx. (13.5″ x 10.5″ x 5.5″)

Please note: The Bowler bag on display in Nimble Thimbles has been made at 90% of the original pattern size.

Some preparation will need to be done before the start of the first session – cutting out of pattern pieces/fabric and fusing interfacing. Help will be available in the shop for this if needed.

You will need to provide your own materials for this project, all available to purchase from Nimble Thimbles. The Mrs H pattern will need to be purchased from the shop at a cost of £12. Sewing machines are provided in the sewing school but you will need to bring your own equipment with you.

If you wish to use a heavier weight fabric for your bag, such as faux leather, you are welcome to bring your own sewing machine as the sewing school machines may not cope with this type of fabric.

Once you have booked you will be emailed a list of materials & equipment needed for this project.

Payment can be made in full or on a session by session basis (this option only available when booking in the shop), but you will need to commit to attending all three sessions at time of booking.
