Description
Date: 25th October 2025
Day: Saturday
Time: 9.30am to 5pm
This is a great workshop to learn hints and tips on how to sew stretch jersey fabrics. The perfect introduction to sewing knit fabrics on a regular sewing machine with the option to use the overlocker if you prefer.
Make your own stretch jersey top or tunic using the Tilly and the Buttons ‘Coco’ pattern. This is the perfect Breton top or knit tunic with multiple variations. Simple to sew, Coco is easy fitting, with no zips, buttons or other fiddly bits.
A year-round staple that’s so easy to wear, Coco makes a great spring top, summer tunic, autumn funnel neck or cosy winter dress. Designed for low-stretch knit fabrics, the classic style features a boat neckline or a funnel neck, choice of top or dress lengths, three quarter length or long sleeves, with side splits at the hips on the top version.
Pattern size: 6-34
Some dressmaking experience is needed for this workshop (ie: you need to be confident using a sewing machine but not necessarily have sewn jersey before).
The skills you will learn will be how to read your pattern instructions, seams and finishes, how to finish two different necklines, hems and how to use an overlocker (if you wish) and twin needle sewing. Essentially you will pick up ‘Vikki’ tips on how to sew jersey successfully and you will take a pattern (worth £18.50) home with you so you can make many more at your leisure!
*** You will need to cut out your fabric before the class and advice is available in the shop for this if needed. There won’t be time to sew the pockets during the class but the bottom pockets can be sewn at home, before or after the class***
You will need to provide your own materials and tools for this class but sewing machines and patterns are provided. Once you have booked you will be emailed a list of materials and tools needed for this workshop.
