The Janome 230DC LE Limited Edition is a versatile, fully computerised sewing machine designed to make sewing simple, enjoyable and efficient. With stitches and settings selected at the touch of a button, it offers ease of use for both beginners and more experienced sewers.
Threading is quick and hassle-free thanks to the automatic needle threader and quick-set bobbin system. The bobbin thread can simply be placed into the guide on the cover plate, where built-in cutting blades trim the thread to the correct length, eliminating the need to pull up long thread tails when starting a project. Once threaded, the automatic thread cutter neatly trims the threads and resets the tails after each sewing session.
Despite its impressive range of features, the 230DC LE is lightweight and portable, making it ideal for taking to sewing classes or working on projects away from home. With 30 built-in stitches, including three one-step buttonholes, it provides plenty of creative options for a wide variety of sewing projects.
The machine also features a presser foot sensor, which prevents sewing if the presser foot has not been lowered correctly. This helpful feature reduces the risk of thread tangles and makes sewing even more straightforward.

- Easy set bobbin case and cover– There’s no need to pull long thread tails up when you first thread the machine. Slip the bobbin thread in the cover plate guide; the built-in cutting blades trim the tail to the correct length for a super-clean start to your stitching. After the initial threading, the auto thread cutter takes care of trimming and re-setting the tails each time.
- Presser Foot Pressure Sensor –The sensor ensures the machine will not stitch until the presser foot is lowered and helps eliminate thread tangles.
It has 30 stitches including utility stitches, blind hem stitch for invisible hemming, stretch stitches, overcasting for neatening raw edges, decorative stitches and 3 different automatic one step buttonhole (put the buttonhole in the back of the foot and it will do the exact size all one go). There is more emphasis on decorative and quilting stitches than on utility, making it great for patchwork and quilters.
Stitch number, width and length are displayed on the LCD screen, which also displays the correct foot to use for the stitch selected.
Stitches are easily selected and automatically set themselves to the right length and width for that stitch. These can be adjusted with the stitch length and width buttons. Maximum stitch width 7mm, maximum stitch length 5mm.
Securing stitches – choose between locking off which secures and knots on the spot, or the traditional reverse.
Easy to thread, follow the numbers which guide you down to the needle and the built in needle threader.
Drop in bobbin system with auto pick up.
Programmable needle up / down – control when the needle stays in the fabric for pivoting. Can also be used to sew one stitch at a time, instead of turing the balance wheel.
A speed control that can override the foot pedal, so you can work at the speed you prefer. Great for beginners, free motion work and children.
Stop/start function – sew without the foot control pedal, ideal for free motion embroidery, or if you are sewing for long periods or for beginners/children.
LED light gives a bright, clear white light on to the sewing area.
OTHER MACHINE FEATURES – Clip on clip feet, built in needle threader, drop in bobbin, push button reverse, drop feed mechanism (for free motion work).
Accessory tray slides off to reveal the free arm for sewing sleeves and trouser hems. Comes with a manual, foot pedal and a hard cover.
