Janome 230 DC is ideal for sewers who want the features of a electronic/computerised machine, but without lots of stitches.
It has 30 stitches including utility stitches, blind hem stitch for invisible hemming, stretch stitches, overcasting for neatening raw edges, decorative stitches and 3 different automatic one step buttonhole (put the buttonhole in the back of the foot and it will do the exact size all one go). There is more emphasis on decorative and quilting stitches than on utility, making it great for patchwork and quilters.
Stitch number, width and length are displayed on the LCD screen, which also displays the correct foot to use for the stitch selected.
Stitches are easily selected and automatically set themselves to the right length and width for that stitch. These can be adjusted with the stitch length and width buttons. Maximum stitch width 7mm, maximum stitch length 5mm.
Securing stitches – choose between locking off which secures and knots on the spot, or the traditional reverse.
Easy to thread, follow the numbers which guide you down to the needle and the built in needle threader.
Drop in bobbin system with auto pick up.
Programmable needle up / down – control when the needle stays in the fabric for pivoting. Can also be used to sew one stitch at a time, instead of turing the balance wheel.
A speed control that can override the foot pedal, so you can work at the speed you prefer. Great for beginners, free motion work and children.
Stop/start function – sew without the foot control pedal, ideal for free motion embroidery, or if you are sewing for long periods or for beginners/children.
LED light gives a bright, clear white light on to the sewing area.
OTHER MACHINE FEATURES – Clip on clip feet, built in needle threader, drop in bobbin, push button reverse, drop feed mechanism (for free motion work).
Accessory tray slides off to reveal the free arm for sewing sleeves and trouser hems. Comes with a manual, foot pedal and a hard cover.
