Description
Date: 24th January & 28th February 2026
Day: Saturday
Time: 10am to 4pm
On this open-ended course you will make your very own tailored, fully lined jacket, fitted to you.
On the first lesson we will concentrate on the fit of the jacket, making a toile from fitting the tissue pattern and transferring the alterations to your pattern pieces. We will then go on to make the welted pockets, pad stitched collar (pad stitching will be a choice), set-in sleeves, lining, a welted buttonhole and all along you will learn techniques which will make your jacket look professional! The course will probably run for 4 or 5 lessons but it may need more depending on the amount of students etc. Some homework may be required too.
Pattern size: 8-24 (Bust 31.5″ to 46″) Using Butterick Pattern 6862
You will need to be an experienced dressmaker to attend this class. It is not for the faint hearted!!! If you have never put a set-in sleeve into a garment before then this class will not be for you!
You will need to provide your own materials, pattern and tools for this class but sewing machines are provided. Once you have booked you will be emailed a list of materials and tools needed for this workshop. You will also need to cut out all your pattern pieces before the class and tape the seams as instructed in the pattern.
***Please note that you will not be able to use any other pattern than the one instructed to use. You will also not be taught how to pattern match so a plain fabric is recommended ***
The jacket can be seen made up in the shop. It is made to fit Vikki so it is no longer a standard size!
